Better bed delivery practise

Experience has shown that the best practise when loading beds onto vehicles for delivery is to ensure that the base is on:

  1. The outside of the mattress if loaded on its side and;
  2. Top of the mattress if laid flat.

This allows the force of the tie down straps to be absorbed by the hard edges of the base instead of the soft edge of the mattress.  Tightening of the straps against the mattress edge could result in damage to the frame of the spring or even foam side supports.  See diagram below:

If only mattresses are to be delivered, use plenty of cardboard or other packing material along the edges and ensure that the tie straps are not excessively tightened.
